CARBON CAPTURE & UTILIZATION
In CSIRO’s 2021 CO2 Utilisation Roadmap, biological carbon utilization was identified as a key area for converting gaseous carbon waste into high-value ingredients and transforming waste streams into resources.
We are a world-leader in ‘solar biomanufacturing’ using cyanobacteria (commonly known as ‘blue-green algae’). Cyanobacteria are highly efficient natural 'carbon sinks' accounting for about 12% of global carbon fixation.
Using our advanced, sustainable solar biomanufacturing platform, we engineer cyanobacteria to convert CO2 into high-value ingredients for a range of industrial ingredients including agricultural feeds, pesticides, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. We reduce greenhouse gases and generate positive economic returns.
Our technology can utilize any source of gaseous CO2 or carbonated water. Our cyanobacteria are resilient making it possible for solar biomanufacturing to bioremediate wastewater from energy, mining, agriculture waste or fracking streams.
