About the Role

We are an ambitious organism platform company seeking an outstanding candidate for the role of Research Analyst. As a highly-motivated individual, you will support the strain engineering, analytics and bioprocess development for solar biomanufacturing natural ingredients. You will tackle a range of challenges as an integral part of the new team, and demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, creativity, and initiative. You will be adaptable, work well collaboratively, and be able to thrive in an early-stage company.

Responsibilities


  • Work closely with the Bondi strain-engineering team to support and maintain the company’s engineering pipeline.


  • Support the design, construction & testing of genetic designs & biosynthetic pathways using the latest metabolic engineering & synthetic biology tools.


  • Apply knowledge of cyanobacterial physiology, biochemistry, & metabolism to improve yields & productivity of engineered strains.


  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary scientific team to implement experimental plans & achieve project goals.


  • Contribute to the company's intellectual property (IP) portfolio & assist on preparation of patent applications.


Requirements


  • Bachelors or Masters in Bioengineering, Synthetic Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely-related area.


  • Experience in lab-based molecular biology techniques, synthetic biology & genetic modification, strongly preferred; inc. DNA assembly, PCR & protein expression/purification, Gel electrophoresis etc.


  • Lab-based experience cultivating & maintaining microbial strain lines, highly advantageous.


  • Experience with cyanobacteria or photosynthetic cultivation, strongly preferred.


  • Experience with plant Natural Product chemistry & biosynthesis advantageous.
